Incubation for Apereo
Update on 3/20 meeting... working on questions for interviewing members of the community. Apereo will use endorsed project instead of sponsored project to avoid cultural issues.
Questions about implication of requiring internationalization.
Feedback on incubation from team leads from unconference:
Incubation process doesn't give portlet leads much value. Takes more energy to drive all the way through than is worth. What is the actual value of incubation? Indication of community and liveliness of project. This may make a big difference to people deciding to use portlet or not. Maybe be more careful about accepting projects - warn leads that it is work and can be an unsponsored contribution if work does not make sense. Perhaps there needs to be more visibility for incubating projects.

| ThinkSpace | tim carroll | Pete Boysen | i had a meeting with Ian about ThinkSpace, and he is interested in finding out more. we'd like to get him up to speed on the concept and capabilities, so he can be an advocate and evangelist for the product. we also discussed the conference being a good place to perhaps begin to explore the formation of a community of interest around these learning and teaching technologies. A community could include representatives from ThinkSpace, Sakai, and others. shared this with Pete, and he is interested in learning more. he currently has a student preparing a automated demo of the product. this will initially be shared with Ian per above; however, I could see this being a powerful marketing tool in itself. |
