uPortal 5

6 milestone releases so far, 7th coming. Timeline for an uPortal 5 release candidate is end of September 2017 and a general release late October 2017. There is a lot of progress and excitement around the release and we should be expecting multiple new short videos soon of how to configure and work with uPortal 5. Drew will be at Oakland University for a week in September to work on uPortal 5 with MySAIL.

uPortal Ecosystem - Intake Process

uPortal's incubation process from this point on will be referred to as "Intake Process" to avoid confusion with the Apereo Incubation process. We released positive feedback from Ian Dolphin on the Attic concept of moving older / unsupported code into a place away from active and maintained projects. Benito is working on a draft of this new intake process and hoping to have a draft available in November 2017.

uPortal-home is having a check-in call September 20th and the group is planning on uPortal-home to move to uPortal's new Github area: https://github.com/uPortal-project

Drew and others will be contacting Edinburgh about their Notifications Hub functionality.

uPortal Developer Days 2017

December 5-7th at University of Wisconsin - Madison. No registration cost, attendees will be responsible for their own food (there are options near)

Outreach

uPortal tweets and retweets continue. Jim posted this uPortal Roadmap update blog: https://apereo.github.io/2017/08/30/summer-2017-uportal-roadmap-update/. The uPortal-start webinar's video is being processed and available soon. It was noted more visuals and demos would be helpful in the future. Also noted Slack traffic is slow with only 2 participants in August.

Contextual advertising in Apereo projects and web sites

There was some discussion about contextual ads on the CAS project's README and Blogs. It was noted that board objects and is moving forward to issue guidance on this type of behavior in the Apereo community.
