Sinclair UI

Sinclair is looking at developing a new UI that will be curated in part via an AI engine.

uPortal Winter Summit

Planning is underway, including a parallel summit at Sorbonne University in Paris. The summits may have 1-2 hours of overlapping time to do something jointly. Details will be posted to the uportal-dev list.

Accessible, translatable card web component

ChristianC demonstrated a web component he that is accessible (ADA, WCAG latest) and handles internationalization in en-US, french, italian, spanish. etc. He will be submitting to the uPortal Intake Process.

uPortal welcoming document

Cheryl volunteered to start work on a welcoming document for the uPortal project as a whole. This would encourage community members to get more involved. ChristianM will promote the filter that helps new contributors identify issues that are good first-commit candidates.

uPortal roadmap

A few items were suggested for the roadmap. These include ensuring compatibility with OpenJDK 11 and developing an API for plugging in external inputs such as a AI engine. The roadmap will be a topic of conversation at the winter summits.

uPortal supporting subscribers

We discussed possible reasons why there has not been an uptick in organizations becoming uPortal supporting subscribers. One factor is lack of distinguishing between the uPortal Supporting Subscription program and Unicon’s Open Source Support. We could use a document clarifying the difference and the importance of each.
