Steering committee election update
3 people applied for the 3 elected steering committee positions
The committee has directional and operational oversight, serves as an advocate for the project, and is responsible for communications into and out of the project
We will still be looking for the community at large to drive discussion around the CAS roadmap, and other issues
CAS4
SAML vs OpenID+OAuth vs CAS3
SAML does not really assert "this is person X", it is often implied in the transport or similar
If we don't do SAML like Shibboleth, can we still interoperate?
Generally, yes
CAS, if serving as a broker, only needs to talk SAML/Shib to other Shibboleth IdPs, and not to the local SPs (ie: CAS as a protocol translator)
To summarize, Shib treats people as adult enough to handle SAML/complex auth scenarios, whereas CAS assumes people do better with simple things
So far, people are willing to work on
Translations (7 volunteers)
CAS Toolbox
Federation/lightweight identity
We should come up with a documentation/clean up strategy at/after the Unconference.
