Amendment #3 - Selection of Chair of the CAS Steering Committee

Text

PURPOSE: Currently the Technical Representative serves as the Chair of the CAS Steering Committee. This position should be selected.

NEW TEXT: At the last official meeting of the currently serving committee (generally in August), which should be attended by both the outgoing and incoming committee members, the current committee chair must hold a vote to select the next committee chair. Members of the incoming committee who wish to serve as the chair can nominate themselves. Incoming committee members will then vote for the committee chair.

TERM LENGTH: The committee chair's term is for one year from September 1 to August 31 of the following year. At any time, the committee chair may resign his or her position, and a new vote must be held.

TERM LIMITS: There are currently no limits on the number of times someone may serve as committee chair.

Amendment #4 - Term Lengths

PURPOSE: Currently, elections are held every year. This doesn't give members much time to implement long-term goals and distracts from performing ones duties. A longer term would prevent committee distractions and give more incentive to implement long-term goals.

SUMMARY OF CHANGE:

  • Each term is now two years
  • For the first year, one incoming person will volunteer to serve a one-year term in order to stagger the terms. In the event that no one volunteers, a random incoming member will be chosen to serve a one year term. The first year is the only year that term will remain at one year.
