  1.  Welcome

  4. How can we best support Bedework at this point in time?

Notes:

Jonathan:  Jasig provides top-level, umbrella support:  infrastructure resources, licensing, IP, legal, communications channels, mailing lists, marketing and PR, web site, mailing lists, newlsetter, conferences and events, etc.  Projects/Products are governed  independently by the steering committees.

Gary submitted a compilation of notes on steering committee functions/responsibilities. See pdf attached to this page (Click on 'Tools/Attachments', upper right)

Steve:  Open source projects evolve through stages; Bedework, in its current state could use the following kinds of support from us:

  • Raise visibility of the project and increase user base
  • Increase number of collaborators contributing to the project
  • Find ways to improve support, e.g.,attract commercial service providers

We're going to discuss these topics in email and at next meeting

Eric:  Yale legal counsel reluctant to sign Corporate Contributor License Agreement (CCLA), though he signed Individual CLA (ICLA);

Steve:  In work-for-hire scenario, isn't the CCLA essential?  Jonathan:  Jasig to accept ICLA in lieu of CCLA; We will investigate implications.

Arlen:  What are stakeholders interests in Bedework at present?

Mimi:  UC Berkeley doing joint initiative with RPI do improve personal calendaring

Juan:  Navarra does public and personal calendaring; has been working on internationalization

Steve:  Brown uses Google for personal calendar; recently launched Bedework events calendar

Deb:   Duke will roll out Outlook for all constituents

Steve:  Special kudos for Bedework's commitment and efforts on behalf of standards

Jonathan:  Let's settle on 4th Friday of each month for regular meetings.  If Deb has conflict we'll play it by ear
