Adding Media Documents to the Web Site

The general strategy that we are taking on the jasig.org/uportal.org web sites regarding 'uploading' media documents is to leverage external hosting sites. On our site, you create a 'page' or node for the document and reference it where applicable. It is wise to also archive a copy of the document.

Steps:

  1. Go to scribd.com and log in
  2. Upload your document and configure as necessary
  3. Copy embed code
  4. Create new Media Document type - http://jasig.org/node/add/media
  5. Disable text editor (click Source button in editor or 'Disable text editor' below editor)
  6. Paste embed code in body
  7. Save

(Assuming this strategy works, we should think about a common strategy for archiving a copy of the document)
