MARTA (Public Transportation)

MARTA (Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority), Atlanta’s public transportation system, offers rapid rail and bus service that is easy to navigate.  MARTA is also available directly from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to the downtown hotels.  Arriving air travelers should follow the “Ground Transportation” signs to the entrance of MARTA’s Airport Station, which is located inside the western end of the airport’s main terminal, just a few feet from the baggage claim areas. MARTA fare is $6.00 ($5 fare + $1 for a reusable fare card) for a round trip and all stations have vending machines that accept cash as well as credit cards.  Visitor passes with unlimited travel for 1–7 days are also available.  Keep your card handy while on the train, as you'll need to tap it to exit from your destination station.  MARTA runs from 5 am to 1 am, and the schedules and more information are available at www.itsmarta.com.

To reach the hotel via MARTA: Take the MARTA train to the Peachtree Center Station – both Doraville (gold line) and North Springs (red line) trains will stop at Peachtree Center, so you can use either line.  At Peachtree Center Station, go up one short escalator and exit through the fare gate towards the Peachtree Street West exit.  You'll then go up one very long escalator that takes you to the street level.  Walk one block south across Andrew Young International Boulevard.  After crossing the street, continue straight and then go right into the 6th floor entrance up a short set of steps.  Note: the down escalators on Peachtree Street West are currently closed for refurbishment, but steps are available.  If you need assistance getting down to the station when leaving the hotel, use the directions given below (in reverse) to access the station from the east side of Peachtree Street, where all escalators are operational.

Handicapped accessible directions:  At Peachtree Center Station, go up the elevator to the fare gate level and head towards the Peachtree Street East exit to the next elevator, which will take you up to the street level.  Go south on Peachtree Street to Andrew Young International Boulevard, and cross twice to get to the diagonally opposite corner.  There, go west on International Boulevard alongside the Westin building about half-a-block until you reach the 5th floor lobby entrance, which is handicapped accessible.  This entrance is past the service bays and directly across the street from a store called Peach Mart.

Airport Shuttles

The Atlanta Airport Shuttle is an additional transportation option that services the airport, downtown, Midtown, and Buckhead areas of Atlanta.  Atlanta Link shuttles run from the airport to downtown from 6:00 AM–12:00 AM, with a thirty minute wait or less. The shuttles are scheduled to pick up at the airport at 12 and 42 minutes past the hour; the arrival time depends on the time of day you are traveling due to traffic.  The shuttle picks up in the Ground Transportation area outside door W2 for the South Terminal and just outside door W1 for the North Terminal.  The cost is $16.50 for a one way trip and $29.00 for a round trip.  Reservations should be made 24 hours in advance by calling 404-941-3440 or 877-799-5282.  

Taxicabs

Atlanta has established set taxi fares between the airport and the downtown convention district and several other locations.  Need to catch a cab?  For a one way fare: 1 passenger is $25, 2 passengers is $26, $10 for each additional passenger and a $5 charge may be charged for excessive luggage.  Here is a list of service providers.
