Using the Application Server Quickstart

Users evaluating uMobile for the first time may wish to use the uMobile application server quickstart. This quickstart packages uMobile together with Tomcat, Maven, Ant, and a default database for the quickest and simplest setup.

To use the uMobile quickstart:

  1. Download either the quickstart or dev quickstart from http://jasig.org/umobile/downloads.
  2. Expand the download. On windows an unzip utility OTHER than the Extractor utility that comes with the OS is required.
  3. From the root of the uMobile server folder, use the packaged ant executable (ant.bat on Windows, or ant.sh on Linux/OS X) to run the 'ant start' command.
  4. Wait 30 seconds and open http://localhost:8080 in a mobile browser.
