Background

The Respondr theme features a new capability called a 'Dynamic Skin' that allows setting portlet preferences for some basic skinning choices (currently a few colors) and these choices are reflected immediately in the skin.  This feature is not intended to replace a full skinning process that a UI Developer would use to skin a University site but to allow basic dynamic configuration.  For additional background information, see the confluence page Skin Manager and Dynamic Skins for Respondr.

Configuration

Dynamic Skins are enabled by default in the quick start configuration files and skin configuration files.  Configuration changes are made by accessing the Manage Portlets administration interface and configuring the skin choices via the web UI.

Disabling Dynamic Skin capability

There are comments present in the uportal-war/src/main/webapp/media/skins/respondr/skinList.xml and uportal-war/src/main/webapp/media/skins/respondr/defaultSkin/skin.css files indicating the steps to disabling the dynamic skin feature.
