[10:41:53 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> morning esm
[11:01:55 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> anyone else awake in here?
[11:12:56 EDT(-0400)] <esm> oh now i'm away
[11:12:58 EDT(-0400)] <esm> er
[11:12:59 EDT(-0400)] <esm> awake
[11:13:00 EDT(-0400)] <esm> sorry
[11:13:06 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> np (smile)
[11:13:08 EDT(-0400)] <esm> was in verrrrry early this morning
[11:13:12 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> uhg
[11:13:13 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> no fun
[11:13:25 EDT(-0400)] <esm> no, def not (smile)
[11:13:28 EDT(-0400)] <esm> we got your storm
[11:13:33 EDT(-0400)] <esm> in the form of rain though
[11:13:37 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> uhg
[11:20:21 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> so the id factories are all gone
[11:20:34 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> brb
[11:20:45 EDT(-0400)] <esm> yes I saw! sweet
[11:21:14 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> back
[11:21:16 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> so yeah
[11:21:24 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> that looks like it should greatly simplify things
[11:21:45 EDT(-0400)] <esm> cool
[11:21:59 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> so whats next on our list ... to get done by the end of next week
[11:22:04 EDT(-0400)] <esm> right.
[11:22:18 EDT(-0400)] <esm> oh peter is here
[11:22:19 EDT(-0400)] <esm> hi peter
[11:22:59 EDT(-0400)] <esm> well
[11:23:46 EDT(-0400)] <esm> let me lob things out there in no priority order
[11:24:11 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> ok
[11:24:17 EDT(-0400)] <esm> i would really like to see jetty work. it would make iterative dev much easier.
[11:24:21 EDT(-0400)] <esm> a quickstart assembly
[11:24:41 EDT(-0400)] <esm> get a list of modules
[11:24:54 EDT(-0400)] <esm> (not actually do the modularization, just document the intent)
[11:25:25 EDT(-0400)] <esm> maven plugin incorporating/replacing the ant tasks
[11:26:10 EDT(-0400)] <esm> look at the agenda for the dev meeting and spend some time in the next two weeks preparing for a topic - like xml (un)loaders
[11:27:02 EDT(-0400)] <esm> website generation from maven project - make a decent site (not fancy) providing functionality for developers (javadocs, pmd output, etc)
[11:27:43 EDT(-0400)] <esm> ok thats all I can think of... my brain is strained after my early morning
[11:27:54 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> I think that is a good list
[11:28:01 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> I'm planning on doing the dev meeting agenda today
[11:28:22 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> do you think you could work on either jetty or the quickstart assembly?
[11:28:42 EDT(-0400)] <esm> yes!
[11:28:53 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> cool
[11:28:57 EDT(-0400)] <esm> Of the two I think quickstart is more important, as far as making the good impression goes
[11:29:04 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> yeah
[11:29:05 EDT(-0400)] <esm> well
[11:29:17 EDT(-0400)] <esm> yeah ok jetty is impressive but I don't know how much work that will require
[11:29:32 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> yeah, thats what I'm thinking too
[11:29:34 EDT(-0400)] <esm> i think the assembly i can say with confidence can be done in two weeks - given my time commitments
[11:29:38 EDT(-0400)] <esm> right
[11:29:39 EDT(-0400)] <esm> cool
[11:29:47 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> I think quickstart then site then module list
[11:30:10 EDT(-0400)] <esm> ok can we work on the quickstart and the site simulateously? or are we going to do the work serially?
[11:30:23 EDT(-0400)] <esm> either/or
[11:30:58 EDT(-0400)] <esm> note that the site mojo allows you to bundle skins up in a jar
[11:31:14 EDT(-0400)] <esm> anyway
[11:31:30 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> serially for now since I have a fair bit of dev meeting related work I need to get done
[11:31:41 EDT(-0400)] <esm> ok excellent
[11:32:03 EDT(-0400)] <esm> yeah I am sure the amount of time you spend preparing for these things is much more than people realize
[11:32:31 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> yeah

[12:59:04 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> very funny

[12:59:48 EDT(-0400)] <esm> i think "expand (a+b)^n" is my favorite

[13:13:38 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> andrew_petro_ubu you there?
[13:17:50 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao> hey Eric – any details on the detailed agenda for the dev meeting yet?
[13:20:53 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> working on it now
[13:21:03 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> thats why I'm looking for andrew
[13:21:10 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> seeing who is talking about what?
[13:22:23 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao> I'm trying to figure out what's when
[13:22:29 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao> I have approval to come down for one day
[13:22:33 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> cool
[13:22:36 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao> and trying to pick whether to make it monday or tue
[13:22:46 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> what content would you like to be there for?
[13:23:07 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> I think we're going to end up with more dicussion topics at this one versus presentation like topics
[13:23:08 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao> I can talk about XHTML/DLM theme stuff
[13:23:14 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> ok
[13:23:22 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> that would be great
[13:23:24 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao> and I'd like to be around for Jen's D&D AJAX pieces
[13:23:58 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao> & 2.6/2.7 stuff
[13:24:06 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> ok
[13:24:20 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao> to be honest, going forward not sure how much time I can justify around 3.0 – especially now that my day job is Sakai
[13:24:30 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> np
[13:48:23 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao> It might be neat to frontload uP 2.x stuff, and then do a uP 3.x tue leading into uP3 training on wed.

[14:28:10 EDT(-0400)] <andrew_petro_ubu> I am here
[14:29:50 EDT(-0400)] <andrew_petro_ubu> I'm having a real hard time getting used to trying to use IRC for collaboration. It's not just this, it's other projects around here too. It just seems to require an awful lot of effort to read the logs and try to figure out what's going on. Maybe other people feel that way about the email I generate.
[14:33:43 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> (smile)
[14:34:16 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> it is hard to do if you have a large number of places to collaborate in
[15:55:59 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> anyone here know who suggested the monitoring & statistics topic for the dev meeting?

[16:20:58 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao_> I think it was me
[16:21:17 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> you want to lead a discussion on it?
[16:21:48 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao_> Probably not given that I'm not going to be in a position to implement anything
[16:21:53 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao_> unless you're really hurting for content
[16:22:14 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> probably not, I'm hoping we can spend a lot of time doing more discussion type topics
[16:24:24 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao_> You might want to ask Bill or Faizan if they'd be interested in bringing it up
[16:24:31 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> ok
[16:24:45 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao_> It's still on our strategic roadmap – I'm not sure what the implementation timeline minus myself will look like though
[16:25:38 EDT(-0400)] <andrew_petro_ubu> I've added a few more ideas to the meeting outline
[16:26:00 EDT(-0400)] <andrew_petro_ubu> we probably don't have time for everything, and EricDalquist, I agree a whole lot with the idea of more discussion and less presentation
[16:26:11 EDT(-0400)] <andrew_petro_ubu> looking back on it, my approach at El Segundo was pretty foolish
[16:26:34 EDT(-0400)] <andrew_petro_ubu> (did it do anything special when I mentioned EricDalquist exactly? Still learning this IRC thing)
[16:26:41 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> yup
[16:26:52 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> I have my client setup to do a different beep when my nick is said
[16:27:38 EDT(-0400)] <andrew_petro_ubu> EricDalquist Do you get a whole lot of beeps if I mention your EricDalqust name EricDalquist several times, EricDalquist?
[16:27:43 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> nope
[16:36:18 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao_> heh. that's pretty cool
[16:36:25 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao_> I just get a hyperlink to msg you
[16:36:27 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao_> hmmm...
[16:36:30 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao_> have to check it out
[16:40:51 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao_> Eric – when you going in for the meeting? Sun night?
[16:40:58 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> yeah
[16:41:01 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> I get in late though
[16:41:04 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> like 11:30
[16:44:14 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao_> hmmm... I'm thinking I'll try to make it Tue
[16:44:21 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> ok
[16:44:31 EDT(-0400)] <jayshao_> maybe come down monday night to try to meet people for dinner
[16:44:49 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> so you would prefer the up2 content then
[16:47:24 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> then being tuesday
[16:49:09 EDT(-0400)] <andrew_petro_ubu> How structured are the evenings at this meeting? Tuesday eve Michael Crichton's giving a talk at JHU...
[16:49:28 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> very un structured
[16:50:04 EDT(-0400)] <andrew_petro_ubu> k. Try not to schedule any sessions I'm facilitating for, say, 8pm Tuesday

[17:27:47 EDT(-0400)] <andrew_petro_ubu> I'd like to do a slot on some of the Academus-derived source code that Unicon's recently opensourced. I'll write up a slot description for it...
[17:27:56 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> sounds good
[17:28:08 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> I'll try to do the timeslots tonight
[17:28:28 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> and then tomorrow put together a reading list for topics that are going to be dicussed
