Wiki Spaces

Wiki Policy

  • Wiki Administrators
    • Wiki Administrations consist of people that are responsible for the administration of the overall wiki and space administrators responsible for the administration of specific Confluence spaces (i.e CAS)
  • JA-SIG Wiki Users
    • JA-SIG Wiki users are people that have been blessed by space administrators with full read and write access to the wiki spaces. Generally, this list is taken from those that are contributors to the uPortal-dev mailing list. JA-SIG Wiki users may not create new spaces.
  • Confluence Users
    • Conluence uses are essentially anyone that self-registers with the wiki. They may have the ability to create new pages in space but may not delete pages.
  • Anonymous Users
    • Anonymous users have read and comment access to wiki pages only.

Wiki Best Practices

If you remove content that someone else has added it is a good idea to add a comment as well indicating why the change was made.

Generally comments should be considered temporary. Often several comments may be made about content on a page and once the issue has been resolved the comments should be deleted.

When creating a new page always assign a parent. That way users can always get back to the Home page from the location bar.

Hints and Tricks

  • Additional documention available at the Confluence web site
  • For task lists use the tasklist macro (Simple lists only. More complicated lists, or lists that evolve over time should be placed into JIRA as a set of issues.)

Wiki Problems

Any errors encountered using the wiki or odd behaviors should be listed here:

  • I just tried clicking on a link to a page which had no content. When I went to the page and clicked the cancel button it displayed the Index page. This appears to be intentional behavior but I'm not sure why.
  • There is a bug in confluence with the use of the include tag when the included content contains anchor tags. See CONF-2431
  • No labels
