lots of improvements to speed up loading time

on the front end side. (google page speed, upgrade

of all JS librairy, etc.)

analyzing respondr (responsive web design)

University of La Rochelle
(France)

for historical reasons, we have 2 uPortal instances (both uPortal4):

  • ENT => desktop users

  • ME (Mobile Ent) => mobile users

mobile web (our priority for now)

provide native app IF "real"
improvements are obvious to
the end users (when compared
with the web-based portal)

We need to :

  1. upgrade ME (or "merge" our two instances)
+ optimize mobile rendering ( mobile views, page load time,...)

  2. look further into respondr theme (uPortal-4.1)
    + umobile app

responsive design

Mobile : http://mobile.univ-reims.fr

Desktop : http://ebureau.univ-reims.fr

A web portal for occasional users and a mobile application with more services like notification push

We need to have cross-Platform tools in order to produce a mobile application. Phonegap is a solution, we'll try it

The mobile strategy for the portal is going to be based on the new responsive design theme.

The campus has a general mobile app that does not require authentication; there are also numerous other targeted mobile apps. See http://mobile.wisc.edu/

Currently have a desktop and mobile (collapsible list) view. Almost all portlets are available in both and the organization is the same.

We are embarking on implementation of a new portal redesign that will leverage the new respondr theme. See http://redesign.my.wisc.edu/

More sites are moving towards responsive design.
