[11:32:24 EDT(-0400)] <mrboris> hello all, I'm looking for some install instructions specifically for IIS6, has anyone got uportal running on this?
[11:33:05 EDT(-0400)] <mrboris> is tomcat required for IIS installs?
[11:33:16 EDT(-0400)] * bulloche (n=bulloche@134.250.4.77) has joined ##uportal
[11:34:00 EDT(-0400)] <holdorph> a "java servlet container" is required.
[11:34:18 EDT(-0400)] <holdorph> I don't know anything about IIS, but I think it does not do that on it's own.
[11:34:27 EDT(-0400)] <mrboris> is tomcat the recommended one for IIS?
[11:34:43 EDT(-0400)] <holdorph> i dont know anyone running IIS, so I couldn't say
[11:34:46 EDT(-0400)] <mrboris> ah.
[11:35:32 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> mrboris: Tomcat is the recommended servlet container for uPortal
[11:35:56 EDT(-0400)] <EricDalquist> If you want to use IIS in front of Tomcat that would be a IIS/Tomcat issue
[11:36:21 EDT(-0400)] <mrboris> thank you.
[11:42:45 EDT(-0400)] <mrboris> found a good guide for making tomcat work with IIS if anyone is interested: http://neosmart.net/blog/2006/configuring-jsp-for-iis/

[12:36:43 EDT(-0400)] <lennard1> mrboris: Over the last few years many people/institutions/businesses have been running tomcat stand alone with a great deal of success in production environments. Unless you are really attached to IIS you could probably just go that route and save yourself a good deal of pain and suffering.
[12:40:37 EDT(-0400)] <holdorph> running uportal and/or sakai on windows = great pain and suffering, with or without IIS. IIS just adds a bit more to an already great pain.
[12:40:47 EDT(-0400)] <holdorph> probably barely noticeable at that point.
[13:55:59 EDT(-0400)] <mrboris> we run our whole website on IIS
[13:56:02 EDT(-0400)] <mrboris> sort of stuck w/ it
[14:06:54 EDT(-0400)] <mrboris> we run a CMS (ingeniux) which requires IIS
