2.6.0 Milestone 1

Vincent Mathieu has generously produced a quickstart packaging of uPortal 2.6.0 M1.

The quickstart includes and uses:

• apache-ant-1.7.0
• apache-tomcat-5.5.23
• HSQLDB_1-8-0-7

and configures uPortal to

• add org.jasig.portal.PortalSessionManager.unauthenticatedUserSessionTimeout=50 in portal.org (to avoid exceptions in portal.log)
• log at INFO level instead of DEBUG
• comment out <bean class="org.jasig.portal.events.handlers.PrintingEventHandler" /> in statsContext.xml (removing many logs in portal.log and catalina.out)
• activate ajax in dlmContext.xml

uPortal developers,
uPortal 2.6.0 milestone one is now available from the uPortal downloads page.

A milestone release makes a binary available for easy downloading and testing and provides a concrete artifact to talk about and open issues against.

2.6.0 includes many enhancements and fixes, including both those developed along the 2.5.x branch and new ones:

• Drag and Drop preferences
• a pluggable DLM processing pipeline
• fixes and performance enhancements, including some derived from Unicon's Academus product
• CSyndFeedReader syndicated feed reader channel

Many people contributed code, testing, feedback, and issues so far in this release, including Mark Boyd, Jen Bourey, Jason Shao, Cris Holdorph, Nick Bolton, Brad Johnson, Susan Bramhall, Eric Dalquist, Don Fracapane, Faizan Ahmed, George Lindholm, Elliot Metsger, and David Grimwood, to name a few. These people and others deserve your thanks for their contributions to progress so far.

I expect to cut a second milestone going into next week's developer meeting and at that meeting to come to consensus on being "feature complete" or on any work to be collaborated upon at the meeting.
