uPortal IRC Logs-2012-08-17

[09:33:22 CDT(-0500)] <EricDalquist> woot ... got atlassian to up our remote-agent count

[09:33:49 CDT(-0500)] <EricDalquist> I think we're going to setup a windows EC2 instance to run for 1 hour per day

[09:33:54 CDT(-0500)] <EricDalquist> so we can do windows builds

[10:44:47 CDT(-0500)] <EricDalquist> technology is wonderful ... we can get micro windows VMs from amazon for $.006/hour

[13:50:44 CDT(-0500)] <drewwills> can anyone tell me if the attribute swapper portlet writes to UP_PERSONDIR or otherwise maintains the swap in a permanent way?

[14:19:36 CDT(-0500)] <rlewis> Hi, I am doing a uPortal installation for about 300 user accounts, maybe at most 50 concurrent logins. I plan to use the quick-start package as is pretty much and put in JVM config changes, etc., for production tuning. Would your gut feel tell you that this seems like a reasonable approach, or do you expect the portal will crash when users start using it?

[14:24:04 CDT(-0500)] <EricDalquist> I'd recommend a different db

[14:24:12 CDT(-0500)] <EricDalquist> hsql works great for the quick start

[14:24:29 CDT(-0500)] <EricDalquist> but is not an production ready db in the capacity that we use it in

[14:52:18 CDT(-0500)] <rlewis> I had trouble getting MySQL to work, I got a Schema Export Error. I saw someone else back in June posted the same problem. Do you know anyone who is successfully using MySQl so I can ask for help from them?

[14:55:04 CDT(-0500)] <EricDalquist> I personally don't really track what DBs people use but i know there are quite a few MySQL deployments out there

[14:55:14 CDT(-0500)] <EricDalquist> the schema export code was improved in 4.0.6

[14:55:20 CDT(-0500)] <EricDalquist> you might want to give it one more try

[16:31:03 CDT(-0500)] <rlewis> Hi Eric, Regarding implementing uPortal. Do I need to do anything regarding https versus http?
