What are people using now and how what issues exist?
• Oracle Identity Manager
o wants an authoritative source in order to operate
o doesn’t have Higher Education uses cases
o requires heavy customization
• Homegrown
o Legacy perl scripts

o Seems to need its business logic outside the system
• Oracle Waveset
o End of live 2014
o Nice data router approach
• Sun Identity Manager

o Trident is a project/company that maintains this software beyond “Sun”-set

General Issues Around Identity Registry
o Open source has a stigma on some campuses
o Many folks got on the Sun boat, then it sank; currently juggling transition
o Legacy scripts take a lot of labor and management in-house and turnover by developers takes a toll on such systems.
