Shib - SAML2 related use cases

The purpose of this page is to determine exactly what SAML2 support is needed to support the use cases that are important or essential in real world scenarios.

  1. Is the SAMLValidate with SAML1.1 response sufficient or is a SAML 2 style response required?
  2. CAS in front of Shib to allow integration of SAML2 services into  an enterprise where SSO is based on wide use of CAS 
    1. Already well understood and used in CAS 3.  No extensions required?
  3. Shib in front of CAS?
    1. CAS accepts a SAML post of credentials, validates them and creates session, produces service ticket?  Is there any use for this case?
  4. CAS service has PGT and desires SAML elements to use for proxy or equivalent to SAML2 service
    1. Could already be done perhaps.
