The alerts system is being build by Rutgers to allow important pieces of infomration to be quickly sent to users. The system consists of a portlet for displaying the alerts to the user. A SOAP web service for publishing alerts. A SOAP client to publish alerts with and framework modifications to notify the user when they have an alert by switching them to the alerts portlet. The attached zip file has more detailed documentation along with the files and instructions to install the alerts system on a vanilla uPortal 2.4.1 base.
