There are several ideas and requirements that have been voiced about enabling external links that come into uPortal and "land" directly on a channel in focus mode or on a tab bot in guest mode and as an authenticated user.

- For a patch for allowing parameters to be passed into the uPortal in guest mode including when no previous session exists see the attached patch named DeepLinkForGuest.patch.
- To go to a channel in focus mode and in guest mode you also need a patch to allow transient layout wrapper to be handled by the guest preferences. This modification is described on the Yale WIKI at http://tp.its.yale.edu/confluence/display/YIP/Url+to+get+to+a+channel+in+focus+under+guest and includes the patch which is also attached here with the name guestfocuschannelptach.txt.
