The following details the website work we would like to have in place for the uPortal 4 marketing. Please use the current site (http://www.jasig.org/uportal) for reference to existing pages. The notes below mainly highlight the changes we would like to see. Other improvement suggestions are welcome.

Common among all pages

  1. Keep in mind the rest of the Jasig website
  2. Include new logo
  3. Contemporary look
  4. Remove donate button
  5. Items in lower left below navigation can be reconsidered
  6. Preserving Jasig brand
  7. Also highlighting the individual project brands

  2. Slogan - this is something that inspires, is not bound down, a differentiator
    • By higher ed, for higher ed
    • But what makes us different?
    • Don't shoot too high, put on airs or look too much like a just another vendor
  3. uPortal is the leading <blank> portal blurb identifier/label
  4. Highlight our top 2-3 features/benefits
    • Focus on higher ed
    • Standards compliance
    • Much better at integration

  2. Encapsulated concept that people can keep in mind.
  3. Individual quotes/testimonials could tie into slogan. Quotes could come from end users.

  1. Highlight 11-12 key portlets (accepted or in incubation)
  2. Highlight the reusable types
  3. Similar in layout to the features and benefits pages
  4. Perhaps with screen shots for each
  5. Link to complete list of portlets (portlet wiki page)

uMobile

  1. Highlighting the uMobile project, native smart phone apps that deliver a personalized experience
  2. Similar in many respects to the landing page
