Minutes
0. Minutes by jjmarkow; present: Andrew Petro, Jim Helwig, and Jonathan Markow
- The group discussed alternate ways to track, maintain, and display "uPortals in Production"
- These are currently put on a web page in HyperContent by John; there is another page in our wiki where people are able to enter more detailed information about their uPortal implementation.
- We liked the way Sakai tracks implementations in Jira (see screenshot gallery below)
- We discussed a workflow where a form on our website could capture the information, we map it to Jira, we display a basic subset on the uportal.org site.
- Jim H. will write up functional specs for this on a wiki page for review; Jim will also contact Anthony Whyte to discuss the process through which Sakai collects this information in Jira.
- The group discussed the desirability of tracking web change requests in Jira instead of email to webmaster@ja-sig.org. After an analysis revealed that most requests to webmaster were "please list my uPortal in production," leaving no more than one or two other miscellaneous requests per month, it's currently not worth putting effort into an alternate approach.
- The new logo designs are behind schedule. Work should resume next week. Jonathan mentioned that a number of people volunteered to do work on this. Those who were not chosen agreed to be consulted in the future should similar work need to be done.
- Why aren't more people participating in these calls? Darned if we know. However, given the level of resources we've got for doing substantive web work at this time, we seem to be making adequate progress on the smaller issues.
