Call for nominations
Text suitable for inclusion in newsletter, list post, etc.
The Jasig CAS project Steering Committee participates in the annual Jasig election cycle in that there are "stakeholder representative" positions on the steering committee elected by the Jasig Membership, similarly to the way Jasig Board positions are elected.
There are three (3) such elected stakeholder representative positions. As of last year's election, these positions serve two-year terms (in order to reduce thrash) but in order to stagger the election of these positions, one (1) position elected last year (the position in which Andrew Petro serves) is nonetheless up for election this year.

URL: www.jasig.org/cas/news/2011-call-for-cas-steer-nominations
It's Jasig election time!
The CAS Steering Committee will be filling one (1) stakeholder representative position this election.
Anyone from the Jasig CAS community may serve in an elected stakeholder representative role, with each Jasig member organization able to cast a vote in the election. Nominees need not be drawn from Jasig member organizations. Nominations of others and/or self-nominations are welcome.
Please send nominations by email to elections@jasig.org . Nominations must be received no later than 5:00 PM Eastern (GMT-4) on Friday July 9, 2011. Nominating earlier is encouraged to give the nominee plenty of time to work on his or her bio and nominee statement before the election, scheduled to proceed July 15th through August 1st.
The CAS Steering Committee serves as an advocate to the project, exercising strategic and operational oversight, encouraging broadened support and adoption, and promoting participation from the community.

On second thought, this text was kind of confusing about how many positions are up for election. There are 3 total elected positions on the Jasig CAS Steering Committee, but only one is up for election this cycle. |
